Adoption and Permanence Orders

The legal process of Adoption requires a Court Order formalising the relationship of the prospective parent and child or children. The result is that the child or children become the family and the adopter assumes full parental responsibility.

Our Family Law team can provide advice to prospective adopters and also to step-parents who may wish to adopt their step-children. We also advise single adopters, unmarried and same-sex couples in all aspects of Adoption and Permanence Orders; plus foster carers and kinship carers. We will guide you through the Court process in a caring and sensitive way.

In the area of Public Law, we can advise parents whose children are in the care of the Local Authority, where long term or permanent arrangements are being discussed for their children out with the family home.

For further details either telephone 01463-221727 and ask for the Court Department or send an email.
