25th September 2020
The Scottish Government has announced the final date for receiving First Home Fund applications for completion in 2020-21. This pilot scheme was launched in December 2019 and was initially due to run until 31 March 2021. In that time it has been successful in helping many first time buyers get on the property ladder.
The scheme has been incredibly popular, particularly following the reopening of the housing market on 29 June. This is against the backdrop of reduced availability of higher loan to value mortgages as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. High levels of interest in the scheme have continued over the summer and we have seen a significant number of applications, all of which is great news for homebuyers and builders alike.
Following the significant number of applications received in recent weeks, the scheme is almost fully subscribed for 2020-21, and as a result we will shortly stop accepting new applications.
The scheme will continue to accept new applications up until 6pm on Friday 2 October
Any applications received after this deadline will not be accepted
