From Our Property Shop to Inverness Castle: The Journey of the Rose Window!
If you have ever wandered past our Munro & Noble Property Shop in Inverness, you might not know that you have walked by a little piece of history! Before our shop became a hub for helping people find their dream homes, it was home to something rather spectacular—the famous Rose Window. Now, after years of being tucked away, this incredible window has found its rightful place in the heart of Inverness Castle.
The Rose Window once adorned the gable end of a Victorian-era Methodist church—later a restaurant—on Inglis Street. However, in the 1980s, when road widening took place as part of the construction of the Eastgate Centre, the building was demolished. Thankfully, the window was carefully saved for future generations to enjoy, avoiding the fate of being lost to history.
Fun fact: our Managing Partner, Alpin Stewart, has a personal connection to this story—his family used to own the very restaurant where the Rose Window was situated! Talk about a full-circle moment!
For decades, the window sat in storage, waiting for the perfect moment to shine again. And now, with the exciting transformation of Inverness Castle into a world-class visitor attraction, the window has been restored and reinstated in its rightful home.
Home from Home… for the Rose Window!
We at Munro & Noble could not be more thrilled to see the Rose Window in all its glory at Inverness Castle. This marks an exciting new chapter for the city and we cannot wait to see the castle become a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike. The window’s intricate design and vibrant colours will now shine as a centre piece in the South Tower ‘Story Room,’ telling its story to visitors for generations to come.
